Mobile brake repair is just one of the many services Matt’s Mobile Mechanics has to offer. We can bring the auto shop to you and repair your brakes on the spot! Braking while driving is something most people don’t give thought to, as it just happens when they press the brakes. Over time, though, the brakes on any vehicle can wear down and will need to be replaced. It’s crucial to keep an eye on the brakes and have them inspected at least yearly to prevent major issues. Some of the signs that brake repair is needed include the following.

Brake Warning Light is On

Modern vehicles will have a warning light letting the driver know the brakes need to be inspected. This may flash when the vehicle turns on, but if it stays on, it’s time to schedule an inspection with a mobile mechanic. They’ll be able to determine why the light is on and what needs to be fixed to keep the brakes working as expected.

Squealing Noise When Braking

Brakes use pads to stop the vehicle. When the pads start to wear down, they can cause a squealing noise. This is a high-pitched noise that can be hard to miss. At first, it will only happen when the vehicle brakes. Over time, if the brakes aren’t repaired, the noise will get louder and can start to happen when the vehicle is driving, not just when the brakes are pressed. It is important to have the brakes repaired now instead of waiting.

Grinding Noise When Braking

If the squealing noise is not noticed or ignored, it will eventually turn into a grinding noise. At this point, the brake pads are gone, and the brakes are using the plate behind the pads to stop the vehicle. This repair is going to be more expensive, but the next step is brakes that don’t work at all to stop the vehicle. The pads will need to be replaced, as will the part beneath them, to allow for the vehicle to brake safely again.

Braking is Slow or Delayed

If the brakes are slow or delayed, have them inspected by a mechanic as soon as possible. There are a few reasons why this might happen, including little to no fluid, a buildup on the brakes, or damage to the brakes. A mechanic can determine the cause and what is needed to fix the brakes before they stop working completely. It is important to have this done at the first sign something is wrong, as it’s not possible to tell how long the brakes might last before they get worse and are unable to stop the vehicle.

Brakes Don’t Work at All

If the brakes don’t work at all, the vehicle isn’t going to slow down or stop, which can lead to an accident. While the emergency brake can be used to stop the vehicle, it shouldn’t be relied on to do the job. It’s designed to be used only in emergencies, not as the main way to stop the vehicle. If the brakes are applied, and do not slow or stop the vehicle, call a mobile mechanic quickly to have the brakes repaired. This can help prevent far more serious damage to the vehicle that can be incredibly costly to handle.

The brakes on a vehicle are critical, so they do need to be cared for properly. At the first sign of any problem with the brakes, have them inspected and repaired. Doing so will help keep them working so the vehicle can stop as needed, especially in an emergency situation. Today, it’s not necessary to take the day off and go to the mechanic, either. Simply call Matt’s Mobile Mechanics now to schedule a time to have the brakes inspected and repaired.
